Scientology Group Promoting Peace in Québec
Members o
f the Church of Scientology of Montreal are taking part in "Semaine de la Paix" (Peace Week) at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) from March 6th to 9th.
The theme of this year’s commemoration is "Whether Religions are forwarding Peace?" The Church of Scientology is contributing by hosting a Youth for Human Rights booth which shows the award-winning human rights video United and public service announcements promoting the rights espoused by the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Reverend Monique Deneault is inviting people to sign a petition requesting that students in Quebec schools be taught the human rights contained within Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Church joined such groups as the Montreal chapter of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, Amnesty International, Christian Action for the Abolition of Torture, the Focolare Movement, and the Franciscan Intercommunity Intervention Service in highlighting what religions are doing to promote peace around the world.
