Australian Cyclones and the Scientology Volunteer Ministers

It seems the Australian cyclone season is taking up where the American hurricane seasons left off, breaking all records for the severity of the storms.

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers are requesting the help of all who can join the relief effort.  They will train anyone who wants to help, and are coordinating with police, army and other officials to care for the refugees, do needed clean up, distribute food, provide supplies and do anything else needed.

There is an article about what they are doing on the Scientology Volunteer Ministers web site, and more information at the Church of Scientology of Brisbane web site.  The Brisbane Scientology church is the Volunteer Ministers headquarters for Cyclone Larry relief.

Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre

One of my favorite places in Los Angeles is the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre.  It is located on Franklin Avenue in Hollywood and when you step into the building or walk through the gardens you are transported to a different time and place.

This is particularly true each summer when the church holds a gala to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Church.

A few years ago Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, gave a speech at the Celebrity Centre Gala in which he did such an excellent description of the Scientology religion, its religious philosophy and its social mission that the speech has become a classic.  It was made into a DVD and titled, aptly, "This is Scientology." Excerpts of Mr. Miscavige’s speech have been published on the Religious Technology Centre Web site.

But at any time, it’s a wonderful oasis, and its doors are open to the general public to come find out about Scientology, or just enjoy the ambiance, attend a concert or play or enjoy the fabulous Sunday brunch they serve.
