Clearly, there is no place on earth like Times Square.

And the Church of Scientology of New York,located right in the heart of the Times Square discrict.

The Volunteer Minister program was developed by L. Ron Hubbard in New York in 1976 as a solution to the devastating cultural effects wrought by modern-day materialistic views.

He found that belief in man as a spiritual being had been attacked as “impractical” and “primitive,” giving way to a new school of thought: man the animal.

The result was purely societal barbarism — violent crime, most of it drug related, rose more than five hundred percent, divorce rates quadrupled and teenage suicides doubled.

 

In the 30 years since he wrote this the society has continued to decline.  Mr. David Miscavige addressed this and the importance of the churches of Scientology and the Volunteer Ministers program in reversing this decline.  The web site includes an excerpt from Mr. Miscavige’s speech.
